Gosport Golden Mile and 5k
The Senior and Junior Golden Miles are run over a course along the Stokes Bay promenade. The start line is just past GAFIRS headquarters on Lifeboat Lane, Stokes Bay and the competitors run towards Race Village situated at the Bayside Cafe car park at the Browndown end of the bay.
The Senior Golden Mile is open to entrants 17 years and over (as of the day of the race). It is an official chip timed race and all competitors will receive a medal for finishing. There is also prize money for 1st – 3rd for both female and male entrants.
The Junior Golden Mile is open to entrants 4 to 16 years of age (as of the day of the race). Again it is an official chip timed race and all competitors will receive a medal for finishing. Entrants can compete as an individual entrant or enter as a member of their school team in the Interschool Challenge.
An adult is permitted and encouraged to accompany the younger entrants of this race. There is no entry fee for the accompanying adult but please note that they will not receive a timing chip or finishers medal. Accompanying adults are welcome to also run the Senior Mile, however, it is very important that you don’t wear your Senior Mile timing chip when accompanying a child in the Junior Golden Mile.
After the Golden Mile races the last race of the day is the 5k “fun run”. This race starts and finishes on the promenade near to Race Village, and the course takes competitors out and around Gilkicker point and back down the promenade. It is a mixed terrain course but is still chip timed. All competitors will receive a finishers medal.
